DAVIS RENAISSANCE

The Davis Renaissance was formed a couple of years ago by local business persons, residents, and town officials. The group's purpose is to work toward the revitalization of the Town of Davis by preserving it's history, cultural heritage and other resources that make the Town of Davis unique. The group works in cooperation with the Mayor and City Council to preserve the character of Davis, including the building, physical features, setting, history and the people. The goal is to increase economic and community development, tourism and pride in our community.

In November of 1997, the group formally formed the Davis Renaissance, Inc., a non-profit corporation. The board consists of officers and seven members at large. There are committee chairs for Recreation, Marketing, Commercial/Residential and Historic. The group meets formally each month on the first Thursday at 6:30pm at the SawMill Restaurant.

In the past, the Davis Renaissance has sponsored several town beautification projects, installed pole signs on the main street highlighting our four seasons; assisted with the remaking of the Town's Christmas Decorations; worked with the Tucker County Rotary Club, and Alpine Festival Association; sponsored the WVU Landscape Architecture Class which developed a comprehensive plan for the town which included enhancement of the existing architecture, recreational opportunities and the plan for the River Front Park; facilitated the construction of the Skate Park; assisted with the renovations of the Community Center in Davis; and have continued with year-round fundraising events.
